I'm Marilyn Garfield and I have had Scottish Terriers since 1981. I also acquired a Skye Terrier in 1994 and I show under the prefix of TOP BRASS .

Top Brass is a small show kennel located in the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area. All of our breeding stock is DNA vWD Clear and we only breed one to two litters a year. All of our pet puppies are on a limited registration from the AKC and a spay/neuter is required. We breed for health, temperament and soundness within the parameters of the breed standard for the Scottish Terrier. We are totally committed to the preservation and betterment of our wonderful 'die hards'. Recipient of the Scottish Terrier Club of California 1998 Breeders Trophy. All of the Top Brass Scots have been handled and conditioned by one of the people mentioned below.

"Socialization" is a key word here at Top Brass. Being around other dogs and people will make your dog a valuable family member. Pictured is Paul Atkins and his and Georgia's puppy Holly at a puppy training class. This class is to train them to walk properly and to learn very simple commands. Here they have a chance to meet other puppies of all breeds and new people plus their instructor who encourages the puppies to behave for short periods of time. These classes are particularly good for dogs that will be a family pet or one that may go on to obedience. Show puppies should attend handling class where the instructor trains them to learn the different procedures that go on in the show ring. Here these pups also have the opportunity to meet other breeds and people too. Once their shots are completed, the pups enjoy a walk in the park or around the home for additional excerise. NEVER take a Scottish Terrier to a DOG PARK OFF LEAD! Your dog could be seriously injured should it challenge a bigger dog and this is something any Terrier could do at any given time. Always keep your dog on a lead and socialize your dog properly so it demonstrates proper temperament when out in public. The Scottish Terrier Club Of California offers 2 puppy matches a year where ALL Scotties are welcome. There are different events from confirmation judging to a costume parade and your dog will thank you for a nice day in the park.
